Study in Ukraine Cost
Depending on your course, tuition fees at Ukrainian educational institutions range from $1,200 to $5,000 (INR 3 78 587). Most foundation programs charge intuitively less than $2,000 (INR 1 51,435), while other colleges charge less than $1,000 (INR 75,717). Here is a breakdown of the costs one incurs while studying in Ukraine:
Libraries, hospitals, gyms, conference and concert halls, laboratories and other training facilities , security and other facilities are available on campus for you to have a safe and comfortable stay. Almost all universities have sports teams that compete with their peers.
Student life in Ukraine is much cheaper than in other European countries. The average monthly budget is between €150 and €300 ($200 to $400) (15,144-30,287 INR), depending on the city and lifestyle. How to study in Ukraine with a scholarship?
- Gilman Scholarship: This program expands the pool of American students representing the United States abroad by providing additional scholarships to Pell scholarship recipients (indicate financial need). Other priority groups include students from two-year schools, students with disabilities, and students from ethnic minorities.
You must plan to study in one country for at least four weeks, and may also study elsewhere. Gilmans is keeping an eye on State Department travel advisories (see note at bottom of page), so keep that in mind. The average Gilman price is $4,000 and the maximum is $5,000, but if you learn a language on the critical need list, you also qualify for an additional $8,000.
24% of Ukraine’s population speaks Russian, and Russian is considered an essential (i.e. useful in national security) language.
- The Boren Awards: Borren scholarships include undergraduate scholarships and scholarships for graduate students who want to study in countries that are important to national security but are less popular among students. Boren requires language learning, and Ukrainian and Russian, the two main languages of Ukraine, are on the priority list. Ukraine itself is also registered as a priority country and this request will boost your support.
Borens is particularly competitive for investment amounts. Scholarships can go up to $20,000 and scholarships up to $30,000, but you have to do public service to get this opportunity. An NSEP service request specifies work in the field of national security, and it may lead you to agencies such as the Department of State, Defense, or Homeland Security. NSEP stands for the National Security Education Program, which is part of the federal government funding for the Borens.
- IREX: IREX is a non-profit organization that uses funding from the State Department’s Office of Research and Intelligence to sponsor the Individual Advanced Research Opportunity (IARO) program. Advanced students undertake original research projects in Eastern Europe and Eurasia with the goal of contributing to US foreign policy. Ukraine is an eligible country and your research may be funded for a period of two to nine months.
Career / Employment after studying in Ukraine

In order for a foreigner to obtain a work permit, he must submit documents to the employment office depending on the location of the hired company. Packages are checked within 7 days, then Pôle emploi makes a decision and notifies the employer. If the answer is affirmative, the employer must pay the cost of the work permit within 10 days.
Application procedure to study in Ukraine
To receive an invitation letter from any university in Ukraine, we need the following documents:
- Copy of international passport
- Copy of certificate
- Copy of bachelor degree (if student is applying for master’s degree)
- Invitation fee 400 US$
- Courier fee 100 US$
After obtaining visa from Ukrainian embassy or consulate, students must inform us of their flight details along with arrival date and time. One of our representatives will pick up the student at the airport. If a student fails to notify us of his or her arrival, the student will be deported to his/her country of origin.

- Can I study in Ukraine on a tourist visa?
No, you need to come on a student visa to study at a Ukrainian university (in order to do this you will need an invitation letter first).
- If I ask to study, can my parents or relatives go with me?
No, the invitation is only issued to you. However, you can apply to college for a personal invitation for a parent or relative.
- How long does the visa application process take?
The visa application process usually takes 10 business days. Occasionally this period may be extended up to 30 business days.
